Boatwright's Dining Hall at Disney's Port Orleans Resort

Boatwright’s Dining Hall is a clever nod to Louisiana’s bayou life and old-school boat-building culture. Think wood-beamed ceilings, brick touches, and a boat skeleton suspended overhead, like it’s mid-construction. Along the walls, you’ll spot tools—clamps, axes, ship wheels—evoking a real dockside workshop feel. The theming and the atmosphere are definitely worth the experience.

We thought it would be fun to experience some of Disney's resort transportation. So, rather than driving to the resort, we took the water taxi boat from Disney Springs over to Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. The boat ride was probably around 20 minutes long, and drops you off right at the resort. Pleasant scenery that we wouldn't otherwise have got to experience.

When you enter the Boatwright's Dining Hall, the first thing that hits you is the amazing theming all around. You could easily sit for the whole of the time you are in there taking in all the decor.

Before the food arrived, we were served the most amazing corn bread with honey butter and chilled water in jars. The corn bread was sweet - almost more like a cake than bread, and moreish!

So, what did we order....

Shrimp and Grits

Shrimp and Andouille sausage served with spicy cream sauce over creamy Charleston-style grits.

Roasted Prime Rib

Slow-roasted prime rib topped with Cajun butter, and served with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Neither of us ordered dessert on this occasion - so, we will have to go back! What did we think? The food was delicious. Nicely cooked, decent portion-size, and full of flavour. Would definitely return.

After our meal we walked around the resort. Port Orleans Riverside is very pretty, and nicely themed with elegant plantation mansion style buildings, beautiful scenery and landscaping. A peaceful walk along the water.
